The only gripe is that the story is birthed from the conflict between the "white man Christianity" and the traditions of the tribes, and inevitably paints Christianity in a tat of a shady light. The Christian effort to do away with female circumcision, the preacher dad going bersek when his daughter wanted to be initiated into the ways of the tribe as well, and the hero being a messianic figure taught in both ways trying to unite the two and ends up being a victim of circumstances. Who is the real Christian? Who displayed love? Was she wrong to be the African as her people are? Is there a real conflict between faith and traditions? This is as far as my memory brings me. Will fill this up later after i find it for a re-read. Hopefully it's still around. Fingers crossed.
