Out of the salt shaker

Christians are called to be the salt of the earth, but of often than not we have busied ourselves with so many activities within the Christian communities that we become salt in salt shakers. Someone just reminded me that He has shaken me out of the salt shaker- so pray that I’m a “salty salt” and not a “non-salty” one.

He’s been most gracious in involving me in His kingdom. Why He would use someone like me, I’ll never understand, but I’m amazed, thankfully amazed.

A Japanese colleague told me she’s a sister in Christ, so introduced her to BICF. Another colleague’s Catholic girlfriend is here to study mandarin, hopefully will get to know her well enough to point her to Jesus some day soon! Met the production director Ai Leng for dinner on saturday. What a small small world, she’s a sister in Christ too and from Hwa Chong some more!! Being able to bring fellow pilgrims to fellowship in the body of Christ- thank YOU for using me!

And got to share the full Gospel with a Chinese for the first time this weekend. It was so cool. Was visiting this local church near my place for the first time, this seeker came up to me and asked what difference Christianity has made to my life, we discussed the differences between Christianity and Buddhism, doing good and all. Two UK girls who could not speak mandarin were visiting as well. So when the seeker went up to them, my bilingual bible finally came in handy as the UK girl tried to share some verses with her as well!! It’s just been so encouraging to see how He can use me wherever I am. Having fun talking to taxi drivers and the hotel staff about Christianity as well, pray that opportunities will arise for me to share the Gospel with them :)

This weekend, am seeing His work in and through this little life’s short time in Beijing. And am becoming increasingly thrilled about His plans for me here. In the unique position of reaching people from all over the world by, and having the language capabilities (hey you in Singapore, it’s an asset really, don take it for granted!) to converse freely with the locals & foreigners to build Gospel bridges, thank YOU for putting me where I am.

As I was growing as a Christian, two things I yearned and am still yearning now to be for Him- a sheep dog and a signboard. A sheep dog to round up sheep to follow the Shepherd “wow-wow”, and a signboard that serves no purpose of its own but to point people to their right destination, that is Him. Pray that in His mercy and grace, He'll use me as such and draw men to Himself!

Side-track.. realized bringing up church activities in your conversation with others when they ask you about your day/weekend make good Gospel entry points! Be bold to season our conversations with salt!
