Some thoughts this week..

1. Back to the classroom after 7 years. I was like a kid waiting for the first day of school, excited! Sitting in a classroom with an age range of 25-55 years old- I cannot help but keep wondering what each person’s story is!

2. So my first question about counseling- so we’re not supposed to give our clients advice nor share our experience, how far do we take that principle into our relationships and interactions? Is it really possible to do that with friends and relationships that you have a stake in?

3. PPC is teaching about money, VCL is also teaching about money. It’s one of the key things Arthur and I would really like to work on this year. God is giving us a classroom and life-lab all at the same time! Praise God! I’m sure I have more to say about that in the weeks to come. But today’s lesson- tithing is our response to God’s blessing, and is a strong medicine against greed & selfishness. Discover God through tithing!

4. Somewhat connected to the above, I was kind of thinking through a specific situation. Having been a nomad congregation for years, how can we bear to put other brothers and sisters through the same experience? Of course there is human wisdom about being careful, but how does calculating the risk of property damage weigh on God’s “generosity and grace” scale? How much will “safety” count in God’s books, how will it match against “meeting a brother’s need”? I’m removed from the situation, so am just processing out-loud.. Human wisdom is valid and always convincing, and while I understand the concerns, I must make sure I am clear where I stand on this matter.
