My decision is final. After giving Octopus the second chance, I am more certain of my decision than ever.
Hints of the crack in the relationship surfaced during my trip to San Francisco. I was at Pier 33, ordered a portion of the calamari salad. The first few bites were delicious, the next few bites made me wonder if I over-rated the dish, and by the time I was done with it- I could not bear to put another calamari ring into my mouth.
Things started to fall apart with my order of 2 Octopus and Squid based anti-pasti during a business lunch. They were delicious, but by the end of that meal- I was all Octopus-ed up that I swore I would stay away from Octopus for another month.
I was devastated, because after my relationship with Shrimp and Prawns ended, Octopus was my next love and the safe heaven to which I always turn to when I want a seafood pick me up.
I decided to give Octopus another chance at the Japanese buffet over the weekend. Chewing him no longer gave me the same satisfaction. It was boring, uneventful and far from deliciousness. Octopus no longer worked for me, so I decided to break up with him. I might perhaps see and taste him every now and then, but our relationship will never be the same again. *SOB*
