Remembering on Good Friday

I have a friend who gives Light
He came to a world of darkness who screams to put out His light
I have a friend who is the Lamb
He was slaughtered so God’s judgment can pass-over the sinners of the world
I have a friend whose name is Love
He showed His love by dying for an unworthy me

How shall I befriend Him
When sometimes I hide His light under the bowl of what they might think
How shall I be covered by His blood
Over and over again I crucify Him with my sins
How shall I love Him
There is nothing I can bring

Yet it is the Father’s will to send His Son so He might justify and sanctify us
Grace freely given, freely received with thankfulness
He is abounding in love, rich in compassion, faithful and true
Rest we must in He, who has made Himself known
He says He is going away and will come back for us
Eagerly we shall await that day
