She was in her teens when she married
Her husband left her to seek out a living in a far away city
She brought up their only son faithfully
But she’s hearing voices around her and in her head
What if her man never comes back
She’s not going to let her faith to be reduced to pity
She packed her bags and took their son on a journey
Over the seas, to make her family complete again
She braved the waves and the packed junk
Found her husband and they lived happily many days after
But eight kids later, he left her again
This time to a far away land, never able to return forever
She worked hard to raise her children with her hands
Gave them an education she never had
They grew up and started families of their own
The good days were finally near, she thought
But who could stop the clock from ticking
And the body breaking down from aging
Now in her room she sits all day
And that is all that had become of her world
Where is this place, it’s not her home
Who are the familiar strangers who talk to her,
Should she know them at all
The days of the past grows faints with every recollection
Is she more than her aching bones she wonders
She would probably never read this
And the writer erased from her memory
Should life’s meaning only be found in living
Or would it only be worth living in-knowing
