Her parents never had a marriage in substance.. and the pastor is absolutely clueless in asking her mother to keep this dead marriage… What is the point of keeping the appearance of a marriage when her father never kept the spirit of the union alive? Isn’t this like a Pharisaic mutation of keeping the law?
But it is cruelty when she was asked to type the letter. Tears started streaming down her face when she tried to put the words on paper. Words she's been saying easily...and foolishly.. She realized that she could not do it. And if she could not contemplate the idea of them being divorced, what is to be said of her mother in pain?
